Doxycycline hydrochloride is an antibiotic that is used to treat diseases, such typhus, malaria, anthrax and acne. It is also used for sexually transmitted diseases like chlamydia and syphilis.

After the invention of tetracycline in 1953, scientists developed a similar antibiotic called doxycycline hydrochloride. While both of these antibiotics prevent the growth of bacterial infections in the same way, doxycycline hydrochloride has longer lasting effects. The medication, which is taken orally as a pill or a liquid, has a long enough half-life that it can usually be taken only once a day.
1. General side effects
1)Gastrointestinal
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and loss of appetite are common side effects of doxycycline hydrochloride. Bloody stools and watery diarrhea are more serious effects and medical guidance should be sought if you are experiencing this condition.
2)Skin Problems
Sensitivity to light and rashes are common side effects from doxycycline hydrochloride. Patients should cover exposed skin to the sun when taking this drug.
2.More Serious Side Effects
Headaches, blurry vision, fatigue and flu-like symptoms are less common, but serious side effects from using doxycycline hydrochloride.
1)Blood Issues
Sometimes doxycycline hydrocholoride can cause blood related issues like unusual bleeding and bruising.
2)The Liver
There have also been reported cases of liver damage from taking doxycycline hydrochloride.
